The Future of Machine Tools.

While a 75-year anniversary might be a time for celebrating the past, everyone at Modig Machine Tool is more focused on the challenges and opportunities of the future. The introduction of their inverted machining centers is an especially exciting development since it has the potential to transform how entire industries approach machining. MODIG provides equipment to an increasing range of industry sectors and this innovation – along with their strengthened presence in the US – is likely to both widen and deepen their customer base.

For company president David Modig, the variety of industries that MODIG supplies has been an important part of their recent success and also puts them in a strong position for future development.

“The pandemic has been very difficult for businesses across the world, of course,” says David.
“It’s presented us with challenges too, but because we now supply machines to diverse industries, we were able to come through it strongly. If we had been totally dependent on the aerospace industry, things would have been tougher, but because we now work with electric vehicle manufacturers, military suppliers, power stations, and much more, we are more resilient.

“The aerospace industry will always be important to us but being able to expand into other sectors is extremely exciting.”

Keith Lopez, North American President, agrees that the company offers value to several industrial sectors.

“Sometimes people think that because our machines are unique, they must have unique applications,” he says. “In fact, the opposite is true, they are used in many, many scenarios. That’s why we’ve recently supplied the electric vehicle market, the semiconductor market, the construction market, and the firearms market. Everyone knows that our machines are ideal for the aerospace industry, but when people from other sectors see them in action, they understand what we can do for them and they want to get involved.”

With new technologies, new premises, and new ambitions, the upcoming years look to be as exciting as any others in Modig Machine Tool’s 75-year history.
